Whether you absolutely love history or you just like to be a casual observer, Independence has something for you. Not only do we have the Truman home and Presidential Library, but we also have beautifully restored Victorian Mansions, a museum, jail and other attractions dedicated to the old Western Frontier Trails, as well as several Mormon-Church history sites! As far as history goes, Independence is a treasure-trove.

Independence is ideally located. We are so close to Kansas City (you can be any place in Kansas City within 20 -30 minutes) and yet you don't have to stay in downtown KC. We get the best of both worlds--small town living and access to a major metropolitan area. So if it's culture you're looking for, Kansas City has museums and art galleries and concerts and plays. If you love the night life, there are jazz clubs, comedy clubs and micro breweries. If you crave excitement, we have amusement parks and water parks, zoos and sporting events.
