The Innkeepers - Todd & Patricia Justice

Todd & Patricia Justice are the owners and look after all the details from taking your reservations to greeting you at the door to fixing and serving a terrific breakfast to cleaning the rooms to making suggestions for dinner. Because the Inn is theirs, they take a great interest in the comfort of their guests.

Todd and Patricia met in Korea as they were teaching English. Patricia worked at a foreign language Korean high school and later taught for the U.S. military. Todd taught businessmen and college students at a language institute and later was an English advertising copywriter for the Lucky Goldstar group of companies.

Although they enjoyed their six years overseas very much and learned a great deal living and working in a different country with unique customs and traditions, they decided in January of 1996 that they would like to own a bed and breakfast and would come back to the States in search of the perfect spot.

They spent a lot of time studying the operations of inns, talking to other bed and breakfast owners, reading books and going to conferences on what would be involved in running a bed and breakfast. Patricia started gathering information on bed and breakfast inns that were for sale in the United States and Canada and drew up an initial list of 200. Todd and Patricia narrowed the list down to 30 finalists. During June and July of 1996, they hopped in the car and looked at all the finalists-the inns themselves and the areas surrounding them — the entire package. After logging 7,500 miles on the road, they returned home and made an offer on their first choice, The Woodstock Inn Bed and Breakfast in the historic district of Independence, Missouri.
